History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The 17th International Festival “Intermuseum” was held in Moscow, in the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall, from June 11 to 15. 232 museums of Russia and foreign countries, including the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, took part in the event. Its subject was the following: “Development of Museums – Development of Area”.

The festival was opened on June 11. Vladimir Medinsky, Minister of Culture of the RF, and Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow attended the ceremony. Mr. Sobyanin underlined that this festival was the most important cultural event in the life of Moscow.

By tradition, the International Festival “Intermuseum” consisted of several blocks and included competition, business and cultural programs. While professionals of museum affairs were defending their projects, visitors could attend lectures and master-classes.

As for the competition program, three projects of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve reached the semi-final:

1. “Assumption Cathedral of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery” in the nomination “Best Museum Architectural Project or Project of Building Adaptation”.

2. “Museum Educational Program “School of Dionisy” in the nomination “Best Educational Project”.

3. “Let’s Play and Sing in the Kirillov Manner!” in the nomination ‘Best Project Aimed at Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage”.

The visitors were interested in the museum stand with two bright depictions – the fresco of St. Nicholas from the Nativity of the Virgin Cathedral in the Ferapontov Monastery and the Cathedral Square of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery. Besides, the museum employees participated in the business program of the International Festival “Intermuseum”.
