History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

An opening ceremony of the display “Mikhail Kaban-Petrov, Andrey Pliev. Painting, Sculpture” will take place in the Treasury Chamber of the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes on August 18 at 15:00. The philosophical attitude to the world, in particular its spiritual and contemplative side, unites the masters in spite of various kinds of art and means of artistic expression.

Mikhail Kaban-Petrov

“I am in constant search of new creative ideas and achievements based on my analysis of the outside world. My goal is to show not a picture or a subject, but to express what cannot be explained in words, but can be understood through contemplation. I try to reach the generalization level that reflects the variety of my inner comprehension of the world with the help of a graphic and objective form”.

Mikhail Kaban-Petrov was born in the village of Reshety of the Novosibirsk region in 1966.

From 1983 to 1990, he studied in the Novoaltaysk Art School.

From 1984 to 1987, he served in the navy of the USSR.

In 1996, he graduated from Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov, the workshop of easel painting of V.M. Sidorov.

Mikhail Kaban-Petrov works and lives in the town of Kosterevo in the Vladimir region since 1996.

He is a member of the Union of Russian Artists; a participant of regional, All-Russian and international exhibitions.

His works are kept in private collections of Russia, Slovakia, Germany, the USA, England, Malta and other countries.

Andrey Pliev

“I try to cognize the world and its meaning with the help of creative activity. I also try to express my place in it and my understanding through it seeking out the most expressive forms of transmission. I don’t think I am a mature artist, but on the contrary, I am searching and doubting.


Andrey Pliev was born in Vladikavkaz in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania in 1964.

From 1972 to 1980, he attended the sculpture hobby group in the Palace of the Pioneers in Vladikavkaz.

From 1975 to 1979, he went to the Children’s Art School named after Makharbek Tuganov in Vladikavkaz.

From 1980 to 1984, he studied in the Art School at the Department of Metal Craft (Vladikavkaz).

From 1987 to 1993, Andrey Pliev studied at the Department of Sculpture in Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov, the workshop of Professor P. Bondarenko.

From 1994 to 1996, he underwent an assistantship-internship in Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov.

He is a docent of the Department of Sculpture in the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture since 1996 and a member of the Union of Russian Artists since 1998.

In 2010, Andrey Pliev underwent an internship in the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.

He has been taking part in youth, regional and All-Russian projects since 1990.

His works can be seen in the Muzeon Park of Arts in Mosocw, in Vladikavkaz, in the permanent exhibition of the museum “Podolie” (Podolsk), in the Tretyakov Gallery, in private collections of Russia, Germany, France England, and Italy.

The following works are kept in Podolsk: the sculptural composition “Ball” in the fountain in Tolstoy Boulevard; the bust of Mayor A.V. Nikulin; the bust of A.A. Dolgiy, director of the Machine-Building Plant “ZiO”.

The exhibition “Mikhail Kaban-Petrov, Andrey Pliev. Painting, Sculpture” in the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes will be opened till September 10.
